English Martyrs sailed through to the finals of the basketball festival and no-one could stop them.The all-boy year 6 event took place at Beckets and everyone enjoyed using the proper court and full sized baskets.

The teams arrived to a vigorous warm up from the year 10 leaders and put lots of effort into practising the lay-up shot in the fixed baskets. The leaders took charge of the event and were confident enough to referee the games – a splendid effort considering the pace.

Although Ignatius and Austins had been practising and played very well, they could not match Martyrs’ shooting – they just kept having a go and the ball kept on going in.

The festival was a great event and everyone showed excellent conduct but the leaders awarded the fair play award to Ignatius. St Austins were runners up in the event.

The pupils now have all the details to progress to Ossett Blues and to play on a regular basis if they chose.
